About Us

We are Brian and Sue. We sail our 1987 Catalina 34 from Brewer – Pilots Point marina in Westbrook, Connecticut which is about an hour from our home.  We have owned Summer Rush our Catalina 34 for 5 years and have enjoyed cruising Long Island Sound, Block Island Sound, Nantucket sound and Narraganset Bay, sailing into many ports along the way.  Sue is also the Vice Commodore for the Catalina 34 International Association which is a well supported owner community.

We started cruising aboard our 1985 Catalina 25 and have been enjoying cruising for several years.

We learned to sail after purchasing our previous boat, a 1959 Flying Scot day sailer which we trailer sailed and occasionally docked or mored in the Long Island sound at various marina’s near the Westbrook area.

Most of our sailing experience comes from the ups and down of our sailing in close range of the shore of Connecticut and on the many lakes in New England. We have had some formal training at Mitchell College in New London as well as several Power Squadron classes.

We have 2 sons who generally enjoy their time on the boat with us. The kids continue to improve their sailing skills through camps and time on the family boat.
